Our Story
We met on the dating app Bumble in July of 2019, while Sasha was living in Cambridge and Thomas was living in Allston. Our first date was at Night Shift Brewery on the Charles River. We quickly bonded over our love of books, our shared sense of humor, and our curiosity about everything from psychology to Ethiopian food. During our next few dates, we shared long walks and even longer conversations, cooked dinners, watched movies, and went on a few ill-advised kayak paddles. Very soon, we only had eyes for each other and were, frankly, a little irritating to be around.
When the pandemic hit less than a year after we met, we weathered the storm living together in Cambridge. We spent lockdown having movie marathons, perfecting our pizza recipes, and hosting trivia games online for our friends. Our relationship only continued to grow as Sasha studied for her Master’s degree. We spent more time with each others’ families and friends, and we went on adventures from Portland, ME to Miami, FL.
In 2022 we moved to Arlington and have loved creating a home together, spending Sunday mornings reading and sipping coffee, becoming regulars at our favorite Korean restaurant and our library’s cookbook club, and celebrating birthdays at the very restaurant where we'll be hosting our wedding reception.
One of our favorite activities over the past year and a half was dreaming about and planning our trip to Italy, a celebration of both Sasha’s graduation and 5 years together. Finally, in October 2024 we made it to Florence. After several days enjoying masterful art and delicious wine, we walked the winding trail uphill to the monastery of San Miniato al Monte. Over the backdrop of the beautiful city at sunset, Thomas asked Sasha to marry him, and her answer could not have been easier. We can’t wait to begin this new chapter surrounded by all of the people who made us who we are today and made our love story possible.
